Digital payment solutions like Zelle®, which FineMark offers to clients, continue to grow in popularity. These peer-to-peer payment applications allow you to transfer money easily to friends and family. However, with issues like identity theft and other cybercrimes on the rise, it’s important to know what you can to do help protect yourself–and your money–when sending and receiving money digitally. One of the easiest ways to protect yourself is to only send money to people you trust.
Here are some other things you can do:
- Steer clear of phishing calls and emails. Fraudsters are using more sophisticated email and phone techniques to gain access to your information. Beware of clicking links in emails.
- Never give your banking information to a caller, even if Caller ID shows your bank is calling you about fraud. If it is really your bank, they will have your account and login information. Do not give it to them.
- Do not share any “verification codes” from your online banking log in. This essentially is the key to access your account.
- Sign up for free text or email alerts offered by FineMark to warn of suspicious activity on your account.
Contact FineMark immediately if you suspect fraud.
